Midwest Image Authority© is a multidisciplinary project rooted in the visual culture of the American Midwest. Through photography, wearables, objects, publications, and performance, MIA© examines projection, perception, consumption, labor, and the body within the industrial and cultural run-off of the Rust Belt. The project embodies the material realities of the Midwest while investigating its psychological and behavioral sensibilities, particularly the histories, identities, and desires that surface through what is concealed, performed, or left unresolved. Through seduction, distortion, and excess, MIA© constructs a visual language in which the body becomes a reflection of its environment: an image, a commodity, and a myth.
