I am interested in systems, identities, experiences, objects, and materials that resist stabilization.
BIO
Krysta Sa is an interdisciplinary artist. Working across photography, moving image, objects, installations, wearables, publishing, and performance, her work examines the tension of transmutation and regulation.
Sa earned an MFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BFA in 2D Studies from Bowling Green State University. Based in Toledo, Ohio, she is the founder of Midwest Image Authority, a publishing project rooted in Midwestern material culture, performance, and sensation production. She has performed extensively in DIY & alternative spaces and makeshift galleries nationally. Additionally, her work has been seen at larger cultural and educational institutions and non-profit venues such as Vox Populi (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), The Anderson (Richmond, Virginia), Toledo Museum of Art (Toledo, Ohio), and the Winnipeg Underground Film Festival (Winnipeg, Manitoba). Sa was a recipient of a Merit Award from the Arts Commission of Toledo in Toledo, OH and the Digi Myths Grant from Soft Surplus in Brooklyn, NY.
